WE ARE COMMON MEEPLE!
A meeple is a playing piece in a board game and we wanted to create a community around playing and enjoying board games, hence the name Common Meeple (also, we love puns!). Book a table, bring some friends and play a game from our library, alternatively if you don't know where to start any of our staff can recommend some games and help get you playing.

Common Meeple was launched in September 2022, with the initial concept and planning starting a few years earlier when I (Mike) left the army. To make the dream a reality I moved with my then pregnant wife, Karina to Swansea to open the café following my love of board games, coffee and really good beer. While Karina followed her passion for the outdoors, camping and beaches. (Wales really is the most perfect place for us!).

Fast forward to the present day and the Cafe has developed (and is still developing) and is now a thriving family run business by husband and wife duo, (and occasionally our toddler who thinks they run the place). Community and board games sit at the core of everything we do. We locally source goods and products where we can, whilst supporting other local businesses by having a mini shop within our café.
​
We set out to make the café located on St Helens road a welcoming, community focused environment where everyone feels welcome and relaxed, and we hope that is what we've achieved. Please take a look at our events pages to see what is going on and if you have an activity you would like us to run, please do reach out, or pop into the café and have a chat, me or Karina are almost always in!
